There are a lot of things that you need to know when you buy a computer. It is very crucial to decide carefully the features based on out usage and requirements when we are choosing a notebook (Laptop) over a Desktop
These following things should be considered while making a purchase.
CPU: The processor is one of the most important components because it’s the brain of the laptop. Whether you’re pressing a key or opening a file, the processor is what that executes the command.
Usually, in CPUs, higher the number of CPU cores the better.
RAM: RAM is important because it allows you to work with more information at the same time. As of 2018, an 8 GB Ram should be very well required for good computational tasks like using Android Studio and Photoshop at its full pace. The one trade-off is that the more RAM processes going on, the more the battery is drained over time. So if you’re more concerned about long battery life than multitasking, you should probably opt for less RAM.
GPU: Opt for a GPU from NVIDIA or AMD if you are going to do serious gaming or do a lot of HD Video editing on the notebook.
Storage: There are now two types of storages available for storing data; SSDs and HDDs. SSDs or Solid State Drivers are way faster than Hard Disk Drives or HDDs. This is because they are electromagnetic as compared to electromechanical HDDs. Also, its very easy to consider that higher the storage, the more you will be able to store in the laptop.
Connectivity: With so many portable devices now in use, it is advisable to get laptops that have at least 2 to 3 USB ports. Preferable ones with TYPE-C Specification as well as they are much faster as well as come in reversible configurations as well. Apart from this, you should as well check for Ethernet ports and Wifi Connectivity.
Battery: Notebooks are for mobility. Go for as high battery capacity as possible to avoid the need for recharging the notebook every now and then.
Other less, but notable features to be checked are
Size: The lower the size and weight of the laptop, the easier it is to carry them to places. We are in the end buying a mobility device and not a desktop to carry around.
Screen: If you want to see everything on the screen at once or use multiple programs side-by-side, shoot for a 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution (full HD) screen. You don’t really have to scroll to see everything, which is always nice. You can also opt for touch screens if you have an artistic side and like drawing.
Hope this helps!
