The goal is to listen and respond to 50 minutes of music you have not heard before.
You may use Youtube or other music.
For each composition, list the composer, title, and the amount of time you listened. Give at least one sentence of reaction for each minute of music. (If the composer’s name or the musical title isn’t available, give the Youtube title.)
When writing your journal responses, consider responding to these questions:
Do you like/dislike the music? Can you explain why? Does it remind you of any music you heard in class?
Does it suggest an emotion or picture? What movie scene would it accompany? What instruments do you hear? What reaction do you have? Can you comment on any of the musical elements, such as melody, texture, form, harmony, rhythm, instrumentation?
Grading will be based on completion of the 50 minutes of listening and the completion, clarity and thoughtfulness of your responses. (One sentence of response for each minute of music.)
Total listening time must be 50 minutes.
