Based on this week's course material discuss the correlation between alcohol and illicit drug use and violence and crime. What role does addiction play? What factors other than ingestion of alcohol and illicit drugs contribute to violence and crime from the prevalence of illicit drugs? Based on evidence is substance abuse prevention and treatment a more effective approach than the law enforcement response i.e. "War on Drugs?" If so, why? If not, why not?
