What do I include in the Report/Reflection? Answer each question in the following Report Outline: I. District/Campus Information Since you are completing all or part of your hours through video observations, you will need to select a public school district/campus for this part of the paper. For example, you could select the district you chose for the criminal background check, or if interviewing a teacher, you could select his or her district/campus for this part of the report. Using information available on the district or campus website and Texas Education Agency databases listed below, include basic descriptive data about the district and campus you selected. District Snapshot: Campus Snapshot: A. Report the percentage of economically disadvantaged students in the district and/or campus. Describe the socioeconomic status (SES) of the community served by the district/campus. B. How many students are in the district/campus? C. What are the standardized test scores for students in the district and/or campus? D. What are the percentages of students by ethnic backgrounds represented? E. What are the percentages of teachers by ethnic backgrounds? How do those compare to the demographic data of the students? F. How does the demographic information relate to information in the course textbook? (See Integration of Course Content in the rubric; see also Chapters 3 and 5 for reference.) II. Instructional Strategies, Classroom Management, and Parental Involvement For each answer, include at least one specific, detailed example/observation, using supportive, objective comments. Cite the videos you used for part of the paper, using in-text citations. If you interviewed a teacher, you may cite a few of his or her comments to supplement your video observations. A. What kinds of learning activities and/or instructional techniques did you observe? B. How do the teachers address visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning? C. What kinds of questions do the teachers ask? What examples based on Bloom’s Taxonomy did you observe? D. How do the teachers motivate and keep students engaged? E. Reflection and Analysis Based on your virtual field interactions (video observations and any interviews you conducted), describe your personal growth from this experience. Cite the specific videos you selected for this part of the paper, using in-text citations. A. What did you learn from this experience about the teaching and learning process? B. Were any of your prior ideas about teaching and learning challenged or changed? C. Reflect upon and consider how this experience impacted you at multiple levels (cognitive, emotional, and social). D. Based on one of the videos you viewed, explain how you might teach the class differently due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
